On 16th February, at the exclusive 7 star hotel Town House Galleria in Milan, Regione Piemonte, Torino Convention Bureau, Lago Maggiore Conference and Alba Bra Convention Bureau presented the three destinations for Piedmontese conference tourism, through a game/live entertainment that offered the chance to taste and savour foods, wines, and flavours typical of Piedmont. Over 200 guests were present at the meeting: there were representatives of various operators in the MICE sector (PCO, congress planning agencies, incentive house, etc.), managers of important Italian and foreign companies and associations, and numerous journalists.

On 11th February 2010, Regione Piemonte and Alitalia, in the light on the new direct flight Turin-Berlin, held a meeting in the German capital with the media and tourist operators to illustrate the characteristics of Piedmont as a tourist destination and to present the Winter and Spring offers.

At the Westin Grand Hotel there was a workshop with Piedmontese and German Tour Operators. Following that, there was a presentation of Piedmont as a holiday destination, in collaboration with Alitalia.

The great Expo 2015 event can represent an opportunity for the touristic promotion of  Piedmont and of the Provinces of Novara and of Verbano Cusio Ossola. This was the theme discussed on Wednesday, December 2nd, in a conference organized by the Tourism Council of the Piedmont Region together with Unioncamere Piemonte, Confindustria Piemonte, Confcommercio Piemonte,  Camera di Commercio Industria Artigianato Agricoltura di Novara, Associazione Industriali di Novara and with the collaboration of local Authorities.

The celebrations in 2011 as a successful tool for the development of the MICE of Turin and of Piedmont: this is the theme with which the Region presented itself in Rome on November 5th and 6th at the 25th Borsa del Turismo Congressuale (Meeting and Event Industry Exhibition), a tested and qualified context for the International Industry Meeting.

Winning, guaranteed, top young, accessible, welcoming, innovative, technological, genuine, sporting, cultural – these are the adjectives that have been used to launch Piedmont’s snow attractions for the 2009–2010 winter season. On the strength of an undiminished tourist flow of around 1,500,000 overnight stays in the first nine months of the year, the start of the new season is looking promising, and is also supported by intensive promotion by the Region of Piedmont.

On 5 November 2009 the Region of Piedmont received the European Communication 2009 Award from the Lions Club International. The award was made on the occasion of the Com.PA – European Salon of Public Communication and Services for Citizens and Businesses.

The Turin-Caselle airport is becoming increasingly international, thanks to new partnerships agreed upon between the local public/private system (Regione Piemonte, the Commune and Province of Turin, the SAGAT-società aeroportuale and the Turin Chamber of Commerce) and the airline companies Alitalia and Ryanair: partnerships aimed at promoting the tourist resources of Piemonte through co-marketing initiatives.

From 22 to 28 March 2010 the athletes of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games will be back in Torino for the World Figure Skating Championships.

An entire castle with its ancient rooms will house a museum which will be dedicated to wine and make the Langhe&Roero region even more fascinating and interesting: its best location was found in the Falletti Castle in Barolo, where the “king of wine” was produced for the first time. The Museum is a project by François Confino, who designed the Museo del Cinema in Turin too.

On 2nd,  3rd, 4th  October Stresa, has been the set of the italian GP
of Class One Wold powerboat championship. The  circular track, about
5 miles long, turned around the three Borromeo islands: Bella, Madre
and Pescatori. Crafts of 15 meters and coming close to 250km/h darted
through the lake. It was a return to the history of  powerboating in
Stresa where many pilots were born along with many champions and
where the first italian powerboat  competition took place on
september 1903.
