Sales blitz in Germany, France and Belgium for MICE Piedmont

From 23rd to 25th June the first of three European sales blitz meetings was held in Frankfurt, dedicated to the “Piedmont MICE” destination.
The initiative, entrusted to FT Promotion by Development Piedmont Tourism for the Region of Piedmont, will be repeated in Paris, France from 7th to 9th July and in Brussels, Belgium from 8th to 10th September.

The Piemonte of the MICE GUIDE at IMEX 2009

Convention bureau piemontesi soddisfatti, following our presence (25-27 May) at IMEX 2009 in Frankfurt, the traditional meeting place for world industry. This event saw all the Italian operators gathered under the patronage of ENIT in a single section of the domestic MICE GUIDE. Even for the viewer the Italian offer was presented as a single unit in a stand composed of 49 stalls, with a single reception desk, a single office base and areas for individual meetings shared by all.

Convegno Piemonte TurismoFrom the year 2000 to the present day Piemonte has seen an increase of 43% of stable tourists and over 37% of arrivals, showing a trend well above the national average. The year 2008 has again confirmed this trend, bringing us – with 11.5 million overnight stays – to exceed the Olympic year record and become a case history at the international level. Is it therefore possible that tourism could for our Region be a resource for keeping the threats of the crisis as far as possible at bay?

The Piedmontese convention bureaus meet local operators

The last of three meetings promoted by the Region of Piedmont in the ambit of the plan to develop the conference and incentive trip market will be held on 28 April at Villa Gualino. The aim of the initiative is to bring together specialist operators and Piedmontese convention bureaus for an update on significant developments in the region and to publicize the facilities and services for events available in Piedmont. The aim is to create an integrated Piedmontese network of professional skills and capacities in the context of an outlook of constant and enduring growth in the sector.

The report on the statistical data for tourism in Piedmont is available on this site. It comprises a collection of summary findings (graphs) based on data stored in the Tourist Accommodation Facilities and Flow database of the Region of Piedmont’s Tourism Department. Besides summary data relating to available accommodation facilities (number of establishments and beds), there is an analysis of tourist movements (arrivals and overnight stays) recorded in 2008, and a number of historic series starting from 2000 and organized on the basis of the origin of the tourist, at both an aggregate regional level and for each of Piedmont’s local tourist agencies.

BITEG 2009: what they say about us

Tourism continues to grow in Piedmont

Tourism in Piedmont is growing faster than elsewhere in Italy – the figures for overnight stays in 2008 (11.5 million) were a record best (up 12% on 2007), and the first trimester of 2009 is also looking very promising, with an average 50% occupancy in the region’s accommodation facilities. These are just some of the data presented to the press today in the Region’s council chamber.
