On 30th and 31st January 2009, CONFTURISMO, with the support of Piedmont Region Tourism Councillorship and Rosselli Foundation, is organizing a two-day meeting on the world of tourism entitled: “Destinazione Italia 2020. Scenari, tendenze e strategie per valorizzare il turismo italiano: Proposte per un programma di rilancio.” (Destination Italy 2020. Sceneries, trends and strategies to enhance Italian tourism. Proposal for a relaunch programme).

“Holiday houses”: Piedmont’s record

Bardonecchia, Alagna Valsesia and Cuneo have been the first places where tourist operators were presented the results of a study on holiday houses in Piedmont. Soon this meeting will be scheduled again in Verbania, where it was cancelled due to force majeure.

 

 

 

Sport is driving Piedmont’s development

Currently Piedmont has 271 sports complexes, 3,135 facilities and a total amount of 9,383 areas for practicing different sports. First of all bowls (3,509), soccer (1,452) and tennis (899). Not only: sport is for Piedmont an important driving engine for social and economic development, thus leading the region to rank second in Italy for tourism linked with great sports events, thanks to strong points such as the quality of facilities, leisure opportunities and the city position, easy to reach.

Piedmont is working out the measures to defend its tourism against the world crisis

In the next months a specific regional consultation committee will monitor the tourist sector in Piedmont and the effects of the world economic crisis, following the enforcement of the emergency measures already passed by Piedmont Region and setting up new strategies.

This is what emerged in the meeting, held on 27th November in the multimedia room in via Avogadro 2, entitled “Primo tavolo di concertazione regionale per il sostegno al settore turistico, alla luce dell’attuale congiuntura economica” (First regional consultation committee for the support to the tourist sector considering the current economic crisis).

Rarely economic crises affect the luxury sector and the one in progress makes no exception. “Luxury Please”, held from 20th to 23rd November in the imperial residence of Vienna – one of the most important appointments concerning the luxury segment in the world – emphasized the excellent products of Piedmont, with great benefit for real economy and our regional operators.

Piedmont at the 24th Fair on Congress Tourism

The presence of Piedmont at the 24th Borsa del Turismo Congressuale (Congress Tourism Fair) held in Rome on 6th and 7th November was particularly important due to the presentation of the prestigious European Meetings and Events Conference, which will take place in March 2009 in Turin, and of the project on “Historical residences”.

 

 

 

In November the debut of Piedmont at IGTM

From 17th to 21st November the debut of Piedmont at IGTM (International Golf Travel Market), a workshop presenting international golf tourist offers to around 400 Golf Tour Operators from all over the world.

 

 

 

“Eu-Latitude” at Salone del Gusto 2008

In its final stages, after 18 months of work, Eu-Latitude took part in Salone del Gusto 2008 where it attended a workshop to present its experience and find new partners for future development.
The workshop entitled “Authenticity, mobility, local gastronomy and product quality: the mountains and the opportunities of a different tourism”, was attended by Uncem regional president, Lido Riba and the director of the Mountain Development of Turin’s Province, Elena Di Bella.
